this was an informative read on the influential soong sisters and their respective roles in shaping 20th century china. tbh im a lil miffed at the amount of focus on the men in their lives, tho ig it cant be helped considering the larger historical context and how intertwined they are. as the book deals w/ all 3 of the sisters, its structure can be challenging as well, w/ most chapters later in the book focusing on a sister thru a time period rather than relating all 3 in certain yrs. but overall i enjoyed learning more abt the soong sisters, esp in a nuanced way that neither fully villainizes nor worships them and their husbands.
