Though it was, like most of his novels, good "National Treasure"-like fun, I got a little bit upset when he mentioned that Psalm 18 was the only one with a verse 47. I thought to myself, "Well, that's not true, but perhaps it's one of those stretches that authors make." EXCEPT when he started a "Separating Truth from Myth" section at the end of the book (an extra on the Audio version I listened to), he explicitly stated AGAIN that Psalm 18 was the only one with a verse 47 and he'd always wanted to use that in a book. Sigh. Let me introduce you, Mr. Berry, to Psalm 119. This may seem like a small detail, but it bugs the heck out of me that someone didn't reach in to correct him (and that the Bible gets to be used as a plot point via some "weird and interesting fact" that he didn't bother to completely vet). One thing I LIKE about reading well-written fiction is that you can usually find things that add to your knowledge base because of the research and while this did in many areas, this one, easily correctable error makes me wonder how much of the rest of the research stands up.

I liked this Cotton Malone book better than the last few. I feel like Berry is back on his writing game. There was a lot of action and suspense again and it moved quickly. I also like that the action wasn't all about Cotton and some of the minor characters had more story lines.

While interesting, this was certainly not the best book in the Cotton Malone series.

Although I'm really happy to find out just why and how he got his nickname of Cotton, it wasn't enough to make me like this one.

I love this series of books and this was no exception. This time our character, Cotton Malone gets caught up in a tangled web of buried confederate gold that is being protect by the remaining members of the Knights of the Golden Circle, the history and purpose of the Smithsonian and a covert attempt to change the legislative process of our country. Intrigue, brinkmanship and a treasure hunt await you when you read "The Lost Order"

A fun read, especially if you like the idea of treasure hunting. It has lots of historical fiction references, like the national treasure movies, but with characters tougher than Nicholas Cage.
