I read this for school and I read the blurb which i connected immediately. I love how much detail is uses though out the book and that it makes me feel like I have been submerged its the story.
I like how you can see a connection between No and Lou only a couple pages it to the story.
I like the use of statistics to make lou's presentation feel real, I dont know if they are real statistics or not.
I have never felt so moved from a book so quickly from page 34 onwards was first upbeat but you could tell something not right, then suddenly it changes in to sadness all from one event that has effected Lou's mum so much that Lou doesn't feel like she actually has a mother. I feel like that's why she connects to No as she doesn't have parents.
I like how this book not only shows No and Lou relationships but also shows Lou and Lucas relationships which shows the different sides of her life.I like how it gives you more detail on No's life and background showing that she has to be tough and can't be vulnerable when on the streets with so much uncertainty.
As the reader you felt the same emotion as Lou when she found out No has left but i also like how that same emotion was used when Mouloud died and the respect he had, it makes the reader think why aren't all homeless people treated with respect ?
I like how the book contradicted my previous thought as it shows the stereotypical thought of homeless people that if they were nice or better dress or didn't drink that they would be more liked.
I like how feeling change and that the friendship of No and Lou is reunited and I like pg 100 and 101 where Lou if offering to help No by asking her parents if they can let No stay with them rather at a shelter.
I felt it so heartwarming when Lou's parents said that No could stay with them as you can see a strong bond between them and the health and appearance of No is improving.
I like how this book has spoke about No's past and her mum being raped then living with her grandparents then more in depth detail of living with her mum and her mum's alcohol problem then being with a foster familys and a boarding school, this shows that she has had to go through so much by herself, because she hasn't been loved or shown affection by the people she has lived with. I like how this shows bit of her life where it has affected her and how it could lead to her ending up on the streets.
I found it heartbreaking for Lou to find out that No can't stay with her family and the effect of that on Lou.
The effect on Lou is that she feels like she can't change the world or improve it in some way not matter how big or small which is heartbreaking to see her dream break.
I like how Lucas let No stay with him even when she was at her worst. I also like how No bought a pair of converse for Lou to say thank you for everything.
I find it sad that Lou's life is trying to get back to how it was before No but she isn't moving with it and this shown with her relationship with her parents.
I found it so heartwarming when Lou said that she would give everything she had for No to go to Ireland with her and it seemed well until No leaves and never comes back, this makes Lou feel so let down as No had always said 'do you trust me', 'we're together aren't we'. Its sad to see all of their relationships suddenly end in such an abrupt ending and it was sad to see Lou have to now be all alone.
However the ending was good to see Lucas going to live with his mum and Lou getting a gift of appreciation from Mr marin and telling her not to give up. But the very last page was my favourite to finally see Lou and Lucas show their feeling for each other.

Okay so mixed feelings...
To start this is the first book I've managed to read completely in French so I feel super accomplished! However because I'm studying this text there's a mix of over analysis vs I'm so deep into the story and I love it! To be honest I was a bit annoyed about the cliché mess I thought the book would be but it definitely surpassed expectations as we delved in further. BUT THE ENDING WAS NOT SOMETHING I LIKED. (Although I have to say that I could have misread/translated the ending...) hmm

Studied this book for A-Level, has some interesting themes that it tackled, but ultimately, I didn't particularly enjoy the story or the ending. Need to watch the movie, for comparison.
