Hive is one of those rare un-put-downable books that I devoured in less than a day. Betts’ intricate and fascinating world-building is excellently-rounded; she carefully answers and half-answers every logistical question for the world that Hayley lives in, while leaving enough intrigue that I’m still thinking over every aspect of the work. The pacing of Hive keeps readers on a knife-edge of curiosity and tension, building pressure and half-answering questions until the gripping final chapters.

A great book for those who love end-of-the-world dramas like the City of Ember series. The first book has ended in a way that makes me wanting more... what has happened to Hayley?? Can't wait to read Rogue, the second book!
Argh such a world. And the Son. Must get the next book/part. Can’t wait. Hayley is such a gutsy character. Curious.
2.5 stars. Great potential, next book in the series may be better. Won't be hurrying to it though.

It was good
The premise of this book was so interesting, however the execution was vague and left me wanting so much more! This book gave me major 'The Giver' vibes and I went into it thinking it was a standalone so I was waiting the whole book for the plot to speed up and unravel itself amd then it just never did. The relationship felt jarring and forced to me and I didn't feel any sort of connection to the main character. It was a page turner however! I was desperate to know what was going to happen next, but mainly because I was so confused from the lack of clarity in the world building. Probably won't read the second and concluding book - I'm not that invested.
