amazing, no notes! best quote is “Perhaps, after all, romance did not come into one's life with pomp and blare, like a gay knight riding down; perhaps it crept to one's side like an old friend through quiet ways..”
first reread since middle school!

It's sweet and nice. Not nearly as fun as Anne of Green Gables since now Anne is preoccupied with being a 16-18 year old teacher, and her friend/rival/romance Gilbert is away for most of the book. So instead it's mostly about her achingly sweet pupil Paul, and absolute snot-nosed-brat Davy (who has a twin sister that keeps disappearing from the book. I like that Wikipedia describes her as "somewhat boring in her perfect behaviour").

Also shout out to her students for their delightful little brains.
‘If you had three candies in one hand and two in the other, how many would you have altogether?’

I can't believe I never read this as a child. I learned so much from it, and I feel like it changed me. I only wish I had read it sooner!

Nothing will beat the first book but this is a lovely continuation. Another re-read as I’ve already read the whole series decades ago.

Just marvelous. I want to sit in a lovely fragrant garden to think long, long thoughts about how much I love Anne and PEI.
