I didn't like it as much as the previous book, unfortunately.
Anne and Marilla foster a pair of twins, but only the boy gets any kind of narrative attention. The girl is just quiet and boring, while the boy is annoying and his pranks and mishaps take up about half of the book. I much prefer when Anne has mishaps.
The solutions to life's problems as presented in this book are
reuniting with your wife (1.5/5), marrying your ex bc you broke up for a silly reason (2.5/5), moving in with your girl bestfriend (4/5), and going to college after all (5/5)
.
Very unsubtle Anne and Gilbert parallels for those first two I dare say. I wish instead we got to see more of what Gilbert is like, because I did enjoy his rare appearances very much.

A cute sequel to Anne of Green Gables, but it felt much like a second book in a trilogy or longer series, where the story is necessary to get to future events but isn't as particularly interesting. At the end of the first book, Anne gives up her scholarship to college and forms a friendship with Gilbert.
Often this book hints at her going to college in the future or a future relationship with Gilbert, but both points are where the book ends.
However "second-bookish" this feels, Anne still gets into plenty of scrapes with her friends and neighbors, for those who enjoy her escapades.

This was so disappointing. Hopefully the next one is better.

I really disliked the storyline with the twins. They did Dora dirty. And Davy can go eat a rotten, bug infested turnip. He's not cute, he's a walking red flag.
