Guilty Pleasure! I listened to this audiobook because of my book club.
I was hooked into the story and binge listened at the expense of sleep.

It’s a bit old-fashioned in some ways. The men are men and women are women, although the author does attempt to give some characters more atypical quirks.

There were a couple of times characters were described as black. So, all the others were white, I assume.

I would have thought it unnecessary, but have to admit, it was a cracking good yarn.

I wish I hadn't chosen the audio version because I didn't like the narrator at all.

Roy Grace dragged into another story of crime - well he is a detective, and one in my 'home town' of Brighton no less. I am a Grace fan and love the locations. In this episode A crime from the past is back to haunt Grace.

There are a few things that annoyed me about this book and those things stopped me giving it four stars but I would have certainly given three and a half stars if that were possible. So, let’s talk about the things that annoyed me… Glen Branson has become incredibly irritating to me. I don’t care that his wife left him, his wife was a horrible bitch anyway, his incessant whining has run its course I feel and there surely cannot be much more. Please don’t let there be any more. There was a line about someone having no life, and that was weird because they were attractive, and it just rubbed me up the wrong way because the insinuation was that only attractive people deserve to have a life. I’m making it far more ambiguous than the book did but trust me, it was blatant. I disliked the ending but I’m incredibly difficult to please with endings so that usually happens. The thing is, you’ve got this far with the series, you might as well read the rest and there’s not much I can say that will dissuade you either way. Come on, let’s march on to book seven together!
