I wanted them to get together but honey the level of total unprofessionalism and how they treated each other as humans was hard to get past.

Did not love this one. Lots of cringe moments and actions that left me feeling ick. Some typos and grammatical errors too. Only reason I finished was because I was reading while travelling and didn’t have another option.
Moderate: Sexual content
Minor: Cancer, Emotional abuse, Pregnancy, Abandonment, and Alcohol

Okay, so boom. I love the spicy scenes between these two. A secluded island is sexy as hell and choosing that as the setting was great. I also love that they didn't fight the attraction. All great elements. All that being said...
The main characters weren't very likable. A lot of the exposition was them contemplating the same points over and over--lots of repetition there. Mika's personality was grating, neurotic and exhausting. She was painted as someone so tough, who could rise to any challenge, but she just seemed whiny. And having Ale resort to cruelty at the end was a bad move. By the time I got to the end, I honestly didn't care that they got back together.
Also, Mika's underlying anger throughout the story was off-putting. In some places it read as jealousy (as I'm sure it was supposed to), but in others the longing I thought she was supposed to convey just seemed like her being angry at a single man acting single. She pushed him away a little too hard, if you ask me. And that was another thing. Some of the tropes didn't hit me the same, but I checked myself on that because the book is 6-7 years old.
