Perfect Advent Devotional. Just enough for each day of advent. I really appreciated the daily question, the music song she suggested. I ended up using Spotify and making an advent playlist. She also shared some art piece- name and artist that you could Google. The art+ music + reading and reflection were truly a gift this Xmas. Plan to gift this in years to come.

This simple, lovely advent devotional has daily readings from the book and scripture, reflective questions, music and art suggestions, and helpful resources. It is quiet and slow; there is no overwhelm. I’m looking forward to using it for a time of contemplation and reflection year after year, but especially during this strange year of 2020.

This will likely become an annual read for us on Advent. The daily devotions were brief, pointed, and often thought provoking. We enjoyed the songs and images that accompanied each devotion.

This is one of my favorite Advent books. It’s a beautiful book and well designed with an explanation of its layout and alternative readings. It’s simple enough to read with children, yet deep and thought-provoking enough for adults. Every day there is a scripture reading, some brief thoughts, and a reflective question. My favorite part is that there is also a song and work of art to ponder each day. The songs are already on a Spotify playlist and the works of art are on the author’s website which makes everything easily accessible. I highly recommend this book and looking forward to using it again next year.

I so appreciate Tsh's comment to the reader in her Invitation chapter that encourages the reader to use this devotional however one needs to use it. As a fan of using a daily Advent devotional or guide each year to help me focus on the slowness and anticipation of the season, I was initially so thrilled with this book. And then we got a new puppy the 2nd Sunday of Advent. A very young and needy puppy. And my daily Advent intentions were turned upside down. In fact, I just finished reading through it on the 8th day of Christmas. I am still blessed by it and look forward to spending more time with it next year...hopefully, daily. But if not, I'll rest again on Tsh's invitiation to use it however I need to.

I especially loved the addition of a song and piece of art to contemplate each day. **Did not read the alternative NLT readings but may next year.

I wanted to love this beautiful Advent book, but it wasn’t what I was hoping for. I think it would be better for families.

I loved the art work and songs, but didn’t think the devotional and scripture worked together. I wanted more from the reflection question.

I will definitely pass it on to a family I know because it is a great concept.

I really wanted to love this book, but ended up with mixed feelings. I love the idea of daily scripture readings and reflections during Advent. I liked the alternate scripture readings and the daily selections from the psalms more than the authors daily reflection/reading about the meaning of advent, which became repetitive. I would have preferred a reflection on the daily scriptural readings.

I was also disappointed by the choices of The New Revised Standard Version "which is fairly easy to read while remaining faithful to the original meaning" and the New Living Translation for the Gospel Readings "because it's easy to understand". These particular translations felt very much like "dumbing down" the scripture. I think that next year I will use this book as a reference for suggested daily readings during Advent, but read them from a more traditional source.

While it obviously would have made a more expensive book, I would have liked the daily artwork to be included in the book rather than having to go online each day to see it.
