I cannot get over the fact that I totally forgot that there was a character named Bess in this book?? She is a very minor character, but still... what 1st grader doesn't love to see their name in a story?
Moderate: Confinement, Grief, and Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Animal death, Death, and Blood

This was my favourite book as a child, and now, reading it as an adult... it is still so good. It shows a darker side to the fairy lore of that universe, which I found quite intriguing. Prilla's character is very loveable and dear. I think the world building is fantastic and so whimsical!
The illustrations are also very gorgeous.
