I think the series over all has potential, and I will definitely continue on with it.

Are Jace and Clary going to be in a relationship or what? If not I am not continuing.

Plot holes in this book have turned it into a sieve.

The world building and writing are good. At the point, having read this book 3 times and seen the show twice, I’m only reading the book for Alec Lightwood, and Simon and Izzy. I couldn’t care less about what happens to Jace and Clary (they’re story line is tedious, and is why the rating can’t be higher). But I can see the appeal in this book, as she does a good job of immersing the reader in a world that’s similar but different to our own.

This world is so much fun!!! Shadowhunters, vampires, warlocks, fae, & demons?! count me in. The writing was easily digestible and the pacing kept me turning the page. I never felt like it dragged and I loved all the twists and turns of this storyline! I also love a lot of these characters and can’t wait to see them grow and change throughout the series! This is an interesting world and i know there will be some more revelations as i continue reading these books!

It's been a while since I read this the first time. All in all it was an alright read. I did really love Clare's way of describing things. Very vivid imagery. I liked the world building as well; it was clear and not confusing. Despite a new take on creatures like demons, vampires, and werewolves, everything makes sense and works.

The I may thing I didn't like was Clary. She seemed bitchy to me. My hatred of her was sealed when she threatened to out Alec for being gay. Like, girl, bye. Idc how mad you are, that's low.

Review to come. Though I do have an urge to watch Star Wars, so it might take a bit.
