Exciting and suspense read with unexpected twists in the storyline. This was the first book I’ve read in the series, and after starting to read this ARC I discovered earlier books in the series on my kindle in my TBR collection, so I will be going back to read the other books in this series.
Reeves and Darcy are a great team, complementing each other with different skill sets and backgrounds. The author wrote a suspenseful story and wove in plenty of action to keep the reader on the edge of their seat. The appearance of characters from prior books makes me very interested in going back to read the earlier books to get to know these characters much better. I found this to be a very satisfying read with just enough steamy chemistry and sexy scenes to balance the suspenseful action.
I received an ARC from Hidden Gems and the author. I am voluntarily leaving a review.

A thoroughly enjoyable read. Reeves is recovering from a breakup, and the rich, tech king decides to play a game he created with friends when he was in college. The partner in the game, XChoco has him intrigued and he wants to meet her! Little does he know he’s gaming with a CIA operative who thinks he’s committing treason and terrorism by way of this video game he’s produced. When the big boss at the CIA learns of Darcy thinking Reeves Hewitt is a terrorist, he threatens to banish her to the basement indefinitely and sends her to Seattle to work with him. Talk about a possibility of explosion, they meet and he’s speechless. He knows immediately she’s XCHOCO and says nothing, but the mutual attraction is palpable. Things get intense quickly, but not in a good way. People start dying, people thought to be dead may not be, and then there’s the cartel and the Russians! Edge of your seat action, humor, steamy attraction and slow burning innuendo made this a great adventure.

This was the 7th book in a series, but easily read as a stand alone. I did not read the other books, but it was easy to pick up on the relationships between the long standing characters. With that being said, I wasn’t a huge fan. It felt like there was a lot of extraneous details, the characters weren’t developed enough for me, and the main romantic relationship felt flat. The storyline was fine, and the book wasn’t bad, but there are a lot of extremely similar books that I have enjoyed more.
