Glad that I've stuck with this series. It started a little rough and has had its ups and downs, but finally all the missing pieces of Toby's past are starting to come together, and it makes for a great read. Can't wait for the next installment.

Another great Toby book! Some very interesting developments and I actually feel bad for Simon now. Hoping August actually becomes a person eventually and grows out of the spoiled princess stage, and that someday Toby makes Amandine pay.

Looking forward to more.

The short story at the end of the book was great as well! Can't wait to see how January's resurrection affects the story!

Seanan does it again! I love the adventures she takes Toby on. I know this is twee but I enjoyed this one so much and look forward to the next one. It cuts to the heart of me some times as I have felt as Toby did about her mother and the emotional pull all of the people have on her life.

AND SIMON! OOOOO! So good!

That is all I can say! So well done.

A short story about April O'Leary, cyber-dryad, working on problems from previous books--which are quite serious, and seem insurmountable. April knows that nothing is truly impossible, if you think logically and creatively.

Merged review:

Another rather dangerous mystery for Toby to solve, on the heels of previous hero's tasks that have left everyone pretty drained. They can definitely use a break, but the end shows they have another tough task ahead. The short story at the end is more hopeful, though.

This series just gets better and better.

The relationship and history that grow between Toby and her enemies continues to be one of the best series on the market today. Character growth, story development, and story arcs that continue from previous books just make this particular book excellent. I look forward to seeing the relationship between this exceptionally dysfunctional family grow.

McGuire’s ability to create complex relationships and then develop them to reflect exactly how tangled and deep real relationships can go is amazing.

I got this for Christmas and read it in one night. October Day is one of my top five all time favorite characters and I’ve never been disappointed by any of the books in this series. While I did like some more than others, I am dreading the day this series ends. The Brightest Fell gave us a deeper look at October’s dysfunctional relationship with her beast of a mother, as well as a look at the other side of Simon Torquill. Unfortunately, they were pretty much the only two characters that got any page time in this one. Still a five star read but I really missed the dynamic between October and the other characters, and pined for Tybalt throughout. Can’t wait for the next one!
