I appreciate Scott's honesty, and definitely see his own growth in his retelling of his journey with Austin ...however I really struggled to not judge several choices of his as a parent and husband. Many of the events in their lives -- that had very lucky outcomes -- made me extremely uncomfortable. I will be interested to see how this book is portrayed as a movie.
Graphic: Alcoholism, Chronic illness, Mental illness, Gaslighting, and Alcohol
Moderate: Toxic relationship, Medical trauma, and Car accident

Dear The Unbreakable Boy,
While not a typical book for me, I did find beauty in your pages. Scott's journey into fatherhood, as rough as it was, was a beautiful story of redemption, and growth. Austin's challenges, from day one, would have day ted any parent. I cannot imagine what it would be like to have a child with so many adversities against them. I am glad he found solace and redemption in church and god, and found peace and growth.

As an Autism mom, I was able to relate to the parents in this book so much. It was great to feel as though others understand what we go through in our Autism home. It was a great story of what life is like with a special needs child.

I really did enjoy this heart-warming memoir by Scott Michael LeRette. I don't have any personal experience of autism, so it was a real eye opener listening to his journey and his family's. It thought it might be a struggle to listen to, but actually it is very funny in places and it filled me with admiration for anyone who has a special needs person in their lives. Lloyd James narrates this book perfectly and drew me into the adventures and stories the author took me on. There were a lot of life lessons in this audio but not cringey or embarrassing, but profound and definitely worth another listen sometime. I definitely recommend this audio to anyone who wants to listen to a really uplifting book, it'll make you appreciate the simple things in life as extraordinary, especially when you see them through Austin's eyes!
