Absolutely perfect for any FBAA lover! The world has so much lore and so many terms that it’s so helpful to have everything compiled and organized to reference (and to be able to quickly refresh your memory on books)
It’s genius to have the iconic Ms Willa be the narrator, and the extra bonus scenes are nice touches. It’s like a perfect resource and fun to have.
To the people disliking it: it’s not meant to be a continuation, it’s a compendium of info and lore, that’s the literal point, not a continuation💀 relax

This is a giant compilation of notes and observations about all the major characters and events of both the From Blood and Ash and Fire in the Flesh series. Given the worlds and timelines are intertwined and complex, this book serves to recap and put content together in a way that would make it easier to reference. It is written by Miss Willa Collin’s, the author of Poppy’s favorite book, and the one who sets up Cas and Poppy’s initial meet cute.
As a bonus, you get a few of Miss Willa’s spicy diary entries sprinkled throughout, an interview with Kieran by the author, a bonus Poppy and Tawny scene, and Miss Willa’s thoughts on the prophecy.
I liked the format used for each character’s bio & description. I loved the links to full color images that were included in the digital version. From a personal standpoint, reading the long recaps under “character story so far” sections was a bit too much and took up a lot of space. It also felt repetitive as the main characters stories overlap a lot, it were told under of their entries. That said, as someone who did not enjoy the second book in the Flesh & Fire series, Sera no Nyktos recaps are a perfect summary of all three books, and would make it so you don’t need to read book 2 at all.
The diary entries were spread out enough to keep interest and break up the repetitiveness of some characters entries, but there were a few entries I thought were a bit much. This mainly due to the “partners” involved and their involvement in the main stories.
The interview with Kieran as hyped as it was, didn’t add anything new. It was a bit awkward to have that be the only content from the real world author, as she was the interviewer. It took away from the fantasy aspect a bit.
The addition of the bonus Tawny and Poppy scene, which is mentioned in passing in the book, and the most new content and acts as a teaser for what is to come. The scene is a time when Tawny and Poppy sneak to the lake to swim. It is briefly mentioned in FBAA, and though short, it hints as to a third presence that as a reader we might know.
Overall, if you have read the books in both series, this won’t add much new; this will be a great reference book, and a good way to recap Nyktos and Sera’s stories before the final book in their series, and a way to do the same with Poppy and Cas.
