"Even the fiercest blazes are destined to suffocate themselves in the end."

I finally started the Fawkes And Baxter series in February, and I decided to read both sequels in a timely matter to avoid forgetting about the details. Endgame is the third and final book, and I'm definitely glad that I was able to read it soon after I finished book two instead of the long wait most people have had to suffer through. The author doesn't really believe in recaps and dives straight into the story, and you will definitely feel a bit lost if you don't have all the details of the first two books and its characters in place. That said, because I did, I ended up having an excellent time with this conclusion. There is no crazy serial killer hunt this time around, but that doesn't mean that Endgame is any less intense. The case hits very close to home once again, and it's a locked room mystery at that (one of my favorite tropes!). Book three is also used to wrap up more than one previous storyline, and there is plenty of danger to be found along the way. There are plenty of twists incorporated along the way and there were a couple I never saw coming, which is always a bonus. This series has such a great cast of characters in general, and I enjoyed seeing everything wrapped up in the end. All in all a very satisfying (and dark!) crime thriller trilogy from start to finish.
