I liked this one a little better than the first. I once again had the same feeling of the characters being under-developed, but I liked the plot better.

A disappointing read after the first book. It feels that both main characters regressed: Tom is once again shallow, selfish and looks-obsessed after seemingly growing up in the first book and Hester is completely dependent on Tom and still has a complete lack of self esteem or self worth. And I must mention that all of this is after they have been together for two years. I hate the common trope of characters not communicating properly, leading to a while lot of avoidable drama due to misunderstandings and this book had at least 3 major occurrences of that.
I will give the next book a try, but am much less enthused about the series as a whole.

I really enjoyed this. It was such a fun adventure with real stakes, betrayals, laughs, and twists. If didn't already have another book lined up, I'd be starting the 3rd one in this series today.

Hester is one of the best female characters ever and you can’t change my mind
