Well crap...

I guess I just spoiled the trilogy for myself by reading this first. I'm not entirely sure what I was thinking.

With that said, I still want to read the trilogy and want to even more so after this little nugget. I was just getting into this world and it ended...of course now I know that it wasn't meant to be my beginning, so shame on me for not looking into that before reading it.

On to book one!

This is by far the worst written book I’ve ever read in my life. Not only that but it is a terrible story. Truly awful. No wonder I found it at the Dollar Tree.

Graphic Audios can be a hit or miss for me, but I really enjoyed this one! I thought the voice actors did a great job, there was good ambience around the story, and it captured exactly what I imagined this would sound like.

The story itself was really interesting and gave good insight into the world, the fantasy aspects, and some of the foundational relationships that are throughout the series. This only made me more excited to read the rest!

I can't wait to start this series properly!

Durzo Blint is one of my favourite characters ever, so needless to say I loved this short story about his origins.

An interesting prequel

This is a fun introduction into a character wrapped in mystery during the book series. It's an interesting look into the backstory of Durzo.

God I want more. The Lightbringer is amazing (to be fair I've only read book 1) but this is thr story that made me fall in love with Brent's work. And dammit, I want more!

Not only did we get a better glimpse at Durzo before he was Durzo, but we also got a short look at Kylar after everything that happened, and it just whetted my appetite! Prequels, sequels, I don't care! Just more!

I loved reading from Durzo's perspective, and I thought the way the story was told captured him well. I'd love to read a longer book of short stories in this vein - snapshots of Durzo in his past lives perhaps. My only problem with this book was that I finished it too quickly, and it's left me pining for a new Brent Weeks novel, which I shall now await with even greater impatience.
