Read for class. Literally soooooo boring. Some chapters were like kinda cool like the one about Apple. Kinda out of date tho

This gave me lots to think about in terms of common narratives and unfounded arguments we hear about the private sector vs public sector.
I particularly found the role of DARPA and other US military initiatives and goals really interesting since that's not a space I know much about. It seems to make sense if you think about what other countries in the world are currently leading in terms of tech innovation (China, Israel, etc) and makes me wonder what types of incentives would need to be in place to justify this type of public sector investment if military strategy is either less prominent culturally or practically.
She does not write much about the potential solutions - it was only a few pages are the end and there were a lot of questions left in my mind about how we can enact change. I definitely agree the narrative needs to change, but am still trying to understand how we create the right incentives both within the public sector and in terms of regulating the private sector (and implications since companies operate globally).

Great information, much to think about.
However, skimming certain chapters would be a quicker way through, and you'd get just as much out of it.
