This was not my favorite of her books. The characters were a little too cliche and over the top, and the love interest plot line was very unbelievable.
I just adore Jenny Colgan’s writing. Her characters always have such a direct internal monologue and it just makes me smile. This was a fun book, definitely not my favorite JC, but still delightful all the same. The ending definitely took me by surprise and I always enjoy a good surprise.

3.5 ⭐️ super cute and very entertaining. It definitely shines in the voice of the author, whom I love for a lighthearted, sweet read.
Eh. Imagine if, let's say Nikki Hilton, loses all her money and her friends and family, and is forced to live in a dirty sharehouse with four guys as she tries to find her own way in the world. Transpose it to London, and you have this story. Of course Sophie has to choose between two of the guys she lives with - shy, nerdy Eck or hot Cal who sleeps around - and of course she falls into a job that allows her to develop of childhood love of photography while meeting many odd but fabulous people. It's a quick, sweet, untaxing read, fairly typical in the romance department, and utterly unbelievable.
Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend by Jenny Colgan. A fun and frothy romp, yet always with a moral, that she is known for. The riches to rags story is heartbreaking at one time and heartwarming at others. I know when I pick up a Colgan book I will have a HFN if not an HEA-- which is what I most desire in fun, romantic read.
I am going through all the English books I own, the ones I once decided while being on Gibraltar and had no other source of English books that would make it worth the read as long as I was practicing some English.
Years later, I have come to regret most of the choices I made, and this one is no different.
Dropped after a couple of chapters, chick-lit is definitely not my genre.

When things around you are stressful and sad, pick up a Jenny Colgan book and cheer up quickly. Light, funny and pure escapist, Colgan tells the story of Sophie, a rich spoiled brat who at 21, never worked or paid her way. When her Dad suddenly dies, she finds herself broke and at loose ends. Moving into a rundown flat with two male art students, a soldier and a mess of another student, Sophie begins to find what really makes one rich. With the usual laugh out loud moments, I enjoyed the escape from reality. Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC.
2.5 stars. Would have been 3, but the ending was a huge disappointment.
