Read it for school. I loved doctor Rieux and Tarrou the most. Their dynamic was already good, but it could've been something amazing, if explored more!! (I was kind of shipping them, but a bromance will do.) For some reason they reminded me of Hamlet and Horatio, I can't pinpoint the reason, but the thought was pretty consistent in my mind after finishing the book. I liked the other characters too, but I just loved those two. I feel like they had a connection. ☹️
It was heartbreaking to see Tarrou die 💔 Rieux basically witnessed everyone dying around him - it made me cry in the end.

I feel like I haven't read something like this in a long while, so I'm thankful to our literature teacher for having us read it. I was a bit skeptical of the story at first, but soon I was into it and ready for more :D

This book is certainly well-written, but it took longer to get into than I expected. I clearly saw the parallels to our recent experience with a pandemic, from the early denials and attempts to stem remediation, to the grief of loss and exhaustion of the sameness of living in a cut-off world. Camus at times gets too philosophical for my taste, but I must admit he isn’t wrong in his observations.
