4.5 AVERAGE

Elizabeth is powerless to stop what is coming but she doesn't give up trying.

Daisy has no idea what life with Victor Larsen entails and is puzzled over his mother, Mrs.Larsen's control over her and the lack of freedom she is given.

Then in a moment a wrong decision impacts everyone.

This story was so heartbreaking and I couldn't imagine being so powerless, as Elizabeth was.

**May be mildly spoiler-y**

Part five in the Diving for Pearls serial is probably the hardest part to read so far. I thought part one was super sad and depressing, but part five was a whole lot worse, at least for me.

Elizabeth, still unable to help guide her daughter now that Daisy is older, watches as her daughter makes mistake after mistake, slowly moving towards a potential tragic ending. Although she tries and tries to change things, Elizabeth knows that the plan for her daughter is set in stone, and all she can do now is wait for the inevitable to happen.

Diving for Pearls: part V actually brought back a lot of bad memories from my past. Other than Daisy's age, this part was a lot like my life 10 years ago. Victor reminded me of my now ex-husband, minus a couple of things. Victor's mother reminded me of basically how my ex mother-in-law was. And Daisy... well, she's a lot like me in this part of the story.

Part five is heartbreaking, emotional, and painful to read. My heart hurts, and my mind is a swirl of memories brought forth by the story. But sometimes that can be a good thing. Facing the past and remembering what used to be and no longer is happens to be a bit therapeutic.

I rate Diving for Pearls: Part V a very well-deserved five stars for making me get all emotional, once more, and for reminding me of what I endured and no longer have to suffer through now.
