This is one of those authors I didn't think I'd enjoy as much as I did but I have a book friend who never ever lets me down and always introduces me to so much fun stuff I probably would miss. Thanks BJ!

So, that said, if you're looking for a fun and occasional laugh out loud book to while away a few days, this is perfect. Take it to the beach, tuck it in your purse, take it on the plane--you won't regret it.

Loved this. Needed a light hearted book and it was such an easy read!

Een boek om heerlijk bij weg te dromen.

Een leuk en grappig boek voor tussendoor, met een mooie boodschap erin. Vriendschap is namelijk belangrijk! Daarnaast was het fijn om te lezen over iemand die qua leeftijd redelijk overeen komt met mijzelf.

De karakters waren interessant en goed uitgewerkt. Vooral de relatie tussen Lilly en Dan super leuk en grappig. Ook vind ik het heerlijk dat vriendschap in dit boek heel belangrijk is en dat dit eigenlijk belangrijker is dan de liefde.

Eddie vond ik ook een leuk karakter. Hij bracht humor in het verhaal, maar maakte het verhaal ook interessant. Daarnaast was de jeugdliefde van haar moeder ook mooie toevoeging aan het verhaal en de relatie die tussen hem en Lilly ontstaat, vond ik zelf heel mooi en prettig om te lezen. De karakters waren goed uitgewerkt en kreeg ook een goed beeld erbij.

De omgeving waarin het boek zich afspeelde vond ik zelf ook interessant. Doordat de filmwereld erin gecombineerd, gaf dit het boek net die extra pit. Het boek maakte hier ook duidelijk dat filmsterren echte mensen zijn, die normaal door het leven willen gaan en rust nodig hebben. Daarnaast was het dorpje ook goed uitgewerkt en gaf het mij fijne en rustgevende 'vibes'. Het dorpje kon ik mij heel goed voorstellen, doordat het duidelijk beschreven was.

De schrijfstijl van Jill Mansel is fijn om te lezen en ik vloog er zo door heen. Wel was het boek voorspelbaar en kon je in het begin al zien hoe het boek eindige. Toch kwamen er nog enkele punten in het boek die niet zo voorspelbaar waren, zoals de muis op de rode loper en het geheim van Patsy.

Kortom was het een leuk, romantisch en grappig boek, maar wel voorspelbaar. Toch heb ik van elke bladzijde van dit boek genoten en heeft het mij heel nieuwsgierig gemaakt naar andere boeken van Jill Mansel.

Jill Mansell doesn't disappoint. This was exactly what I needed...warm, humorous and plain good fun.

As Lily and Eddie grow closer, her childhood friend Dan comes to grips with his secret feelings. But Dan's not the only one with secrets in the village of Stanton Langley, and the summer is about to change for everyone.

If you're a fan of Win a Date With Tad Hamilton, this book is for you!

I enjoyed the glimpse of Cotswold village life, how everyone knows everyone in some way or another, and yet the secrets keep on building. Unlike many novels I've read recently with secrets that just lead to massive amounts of frustrating miscommunication, these secrets are ones we everyday folks keep from family and friends: one night of regret that would never ever ever be mentioned or brought up again ever, harboring a secret crush or love, or surprising a sibling with Beyoncé tickets. What was entertaining was seeing how even these tiny secrets created a snowball all when Declan and Eddie come to town.

Though it comes across as a love triangle, I promise you it's not. It's clear from the beginning, even if it's not clear to Lily, that Dan is the one. Their banter was the kind I enjoy -- not hate-to-love, but one of familiarity, friendship, and excellent witty comebacks. A genuine friendship and love underneath it all. Eddie's glamorous life and lifestyle made him seem more appealing, yet I didn't see much going for him. He was nice, don't get me wrong, but I had a hard time being convinced Lily liked Eddie for Eddie rather than Eddie the Movie Star, if that makes sense. This was a good, clean, funny romance all in all.

Shout out to Patsy, who is -- I swear -- my soul sister.

Cozy up with this great afternoon romcom, and enjoy the banter, the dates, the village life, and the glamor!
