When I initially requested this title from Netgalley I saw the fun cover and the interesting title. I wasn't sure what kind of book it would end up being. What it is is a fun graphic novel about a fox that isn't so good at being one. It is fun and funny with chickens that soon learn to depend on themselves to stop predators and not the farmer's dog.
The fox steals eggs (he never seems to be able to catch a chicken) to hatch then eat but the plan is turned on its head when the new little chicks imprint on the fox and call him Mommy! Meanwhile the Chickens are teaching themselves to fight and the chicken mom who lost her eggs is leading the way.

Super cute story of a fox trying his hardest to be his predator self but failing. I love the commentary the author makes on parenting (the chicks are stereotypical children) but it’s a bit trippy to think of the fox as mother - what’s the author’s commentary on motherhood by putting a predator in that role? Maybe nothing but it gave me pause.
The illustrations were also very cute. The chicks were definitely my favorite :)

- This book was hilarious! It had me laughing out loud from beginning to end.

- Gnome and I both read this but not together. She thought it was really funny too.

- The illustrations are the best! They add a lot to the humor.

- This was a very fun graphic novel that any age would enjoy.

A super adorable graphic novel about a not-so-scary fox that becomes the mommy to some baby chicks. I thought the chickens were hilarious and the illustrations were cute.
