Beth struggles with being herself vs. trying to be who she thinks the boy she likes wants her to be. Cute story with likable characters, humor, and a little bit of adventure.

This was cute, and had some fun stories in it. However, the book doesn't age particularly well. Its definitely a product of its time.

Beth is a smart, spunky girl. Despite the urge to hold herself back for her crush, she is as true to her fun, fearless self as she is to Philip Hall...and he can't help but to like her back.

This is a great, sweet, old-fashioned kids book that I found somewhat charming. It's a great story of a smart girl doing well in her world, and I think my dad (Nostalgia King) would like it.

I wasn't sure if my love of this book would hold up against time, but I am happy to say that out has! Sweet, simple, and great!

This is actually called "Philip Hall Likes Me, I Reckon Maybe" and is by Betty Greene. OK, so to be honest I haven't read this book since I was nine, but it was a big, BIG fav then, along with the rest of the Philip Hall/Beth Lambert series. Overachieving kids who totally like each other in the midst of competing at everything all the time. My dream elementary school relationship.

Realistic, hilarious look at 12 year old Beth's crush on her friend Philip, the cutest, yet most exasperating boy in her class.
