Decent enough. Pretty slow to start but built quite nicely.

This has been on my TBR pile for years, and it did not disappoint. Gorgeous and haunting and a perfect blend of historical fiction with magical realism.

I wish the ending had been more satisfying & less depressing…I feel like my big questions didn’t get answered and the MC is left in kind of a hopeless position at the end of the book :(

This was an easy and enjoyable read. To some degree this book felt more YA than Adult Fiction, maybe it's because the protagonist was an 18-year-old teenager. I feel like the characters in the Brandt household have 21st century thinking but they're all stuck in a 17th century world.
