Reread 2. 6. 2015

I když... Já byla odchovaná na Svatební košili, takže...
Popojedem.

Again, a great story with a suitably revolting monster. This one references both Shelob (yes, I'm still in the process of reading [b:The Return of the King|61215384|The Return of the King (The Lord of the Rings, #3)|J.R.R. Tolkien|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1654216226l/61215384._SY75_.jpg|2964424] to the grandchildren) with the spraying out of sticky stuff that entraps the prey, and the Minotaur's Labyrinth (and who hasn't known that story since they were kids?!) with Jasmine giving Leif one end of a ball of string.

Nice one!

This one definitely changes up the formula a little. I kind of get the feeling that the author started to realize that there were a number of plot points not quite addressed yet. Things like the Ols, Dain, Tora, the Heir, and the Resistance. That being said, it's still a good story with a good deal of adventure and terror.

I really liked the bits with the pirates, having some human enemies to fight was kind of a nice change of pace from the normal monsters and grey guards.

Speaking of monsters, holy shit, the Glus is absolutely horrifying. I feel like Rodda keeps including these little glimpses of real genuine terror in these books, and it's always a joy to see. Also, pirates in a blowhole.

Star Rating: 5 stars

Note: This is the 6th book in the Deltora series as well as the 6th book in the overall Deltora saga so this will not be an in-depth review.

My final book for 2018 is The Maze of the Beast by Emily Rodda, and the plot continues to get more complex as Rodda slowly ramps up the complexity to ease children and new fantasy readers into the genre, which I love as this is exactly what used this series for when I was a child.

I also really enjoyed Jasmine in this book as she is showcasing that she is a strong, female character who deserves her hero status and should definitely be someone who little girls look up to. I know she was one of my heroes when I was a child.

All in all, I can’t say too much about this book because it is so short, but it is really good and if you have any young readers who like adventure stories, then you should put this book in their hands. 5 stars!!!!!!!
