3.5. Take as old as timeā€¦ Narcotics officer Veranda Cruz vs a very dangerous Mexican cartel. Throw in a police department mole working for the cartel, and things get even more dangerous. The book was good, a bit predictable, but enjoyable enough that I will probably read the second one of the trilogy.

Rounded up from 3.5 stars because it hit all the right buttons for a vacation read. Solid police procedural (with cartels). I really enjoy her Nina Guerrera series and decided to go back to read this debut series.

I liked this one. I was frustrated at myself for accidentally reading the second one first. So, that gave me some very vital information about this book. But that is totally on me. I still enjoyed it.
