It took me far too long to pick up this book after finishing book 1.
This is another fantastic adventure for Herbert Lemon and Violet Parma. This time with Gargantis - another sea monster.
Deep hood (creepy), a clockwork crab, and an important job for the Lost and Founder.
I've already reserved the rest of the series, despite a massive pile of other books to read first.

Felt so nice to return to Eerie-on-Sea. I love the small-town weirdos and hotel politics and the fact that these books make me crave fish and chips. A delight! More please!
It was a lot of fun to be back in Eerie-on-Sea with Herbie and Violet. I also adore the cat. The atmosphere was yet again on point. I'm so happy that I went on another adventure with Herbie and Violet. I'm looking forward to reading Shadowgast! 8.43 on CAWPILE

Not as fun as the first, this feels very repetitive, same characters, same location, kinda the same plot... There is a reason why authors, especially fantasy authors, like to move their characters around to different locations... we have seen all the places in this little town already, so spending more time in Herbie's basement, the book dispensary, the pub on the pier, is just boring... I was bored. Sorry.
Add to that the fact that all the adults feel even more cartoony than in the first book and all the remaining interest I had evaporates.like a room full of adult fishermen are like 'we will sacrifice, aka kill, two kids for the good of the town, har-har'... seriously?? So dumb.
Read 2/3 of this book and then gave up, I will not be continuing with the series, cause it's called "the legends of eerie-on-sea" or whatever, so that presumably means all the books take place in this one little town, with the same kids running around same places.

I love this series and can’t wait to carry on reading and find out more about Herbie and Violets adventures, and their pasts!
The 2nd book in the Eerie-on-Sea trilogy wasn’t as cohesive as the first, the superb Malamander.
It contained some good ideas that bit of fine tuning may have turned into brilliant ones. I wonder if the author was under time constraints to complete this too soon.

Super fun new series for middle-grade readers. Love the illustrations and punny names.
