Thrilling murder mystery told from various points of view. The pacing of the story was perfect - plot unfolded perfectly. Wasn't really able to guess what was going to happen - which makes it even better. Fairly gruesome if that bothers you.

A great, gritty crime thriller. A little slow to get in to, but a few chapters in and I was hooked. I've never barracked so hard for a character as little Nell. A few unexpected turns in the story meant that it was difficult to anticipate, so it felt as if I was in place of the main character a lot of the time.

Dnf I couldn't stomach the graphic details in the beginning. I bet it's an awesome book but I just couldn't read the detail

There was something about the clunky and stilted writing that really tied this all together and sold it. It wouldn't have worked otherwise and it did — it really worked.

Made all the more atmospheric by being read in the dusk and dawn hours in a park in oslo in the cold.

"Your whole life could turn out to be nothing but you waiting to meet your own giant stupidity." These are the words Rowena thinks as she turns to see two men standing inside her house, one holding a gun, one a very big knife. Rowena lives in a small town in Colorado, a place where people don't lock their doors and nothing ever happens. How many times do we hear this when something happens in small town USA? Rowena's daughter gets away, but she and her son are not so lucky. Detective Valerie has been trying to catch these men for a long time but not many clues remain when bodies are found. If you are a Criminal Mind's fan, or you just like a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat, then this one is for you.

This book is definitely not for the faint of heart. It goes to a lot of graphic details when talking about sexual assault and the murders. I love dark, disturbing and tense books, so to me it was amazing. It switches point of views as well.
