This was another super cute volume! I love seeing Tadano and Komi spend time with each other, they are the absolute cutest pair of cinnamon rolls ever!! Najimi, of course, was fantastically chaotic and I love them so much, and I really like Hitomi's interactions with Shosuke. Ordinarily I would be annoyed at a character trying to break an introverted character out of their shell (as an introvert myself, that is annoying as fuck and I HATE IT) but I'm more okay in Hitomi's case because Shosuke doesn't talk at all, which could be detrimental to his future. Also, Hitomi is just straight up funny and I adore her!

Something that I really appreciate about this series is that the gimmick of every character having one defining trait works in the story's favor. From my interpretation, Komi Can't Communicate is a series not about communication, but social interaction. Whether their trait is positive or negative, it plays a role in shaping social interactions and by extension friendships. On the surface, Ase seems like a ridiculous character to introduce because, seriously, why the fuck do we need a character who's defining trait is she sweats a lot? Well, as Oda clearly demonstrates, something as simple as sweating can play a major role in social situations, both with communicating with others as well as hanging out with them. Thus, characters like Ase, Nakanaka, and Yamai (while the latter being extreme) make sense in the context of the story because the story is about social interactions, and I really like this. It adds another layer to this series and elevates it from a cutesy if not repetitive slice-of-life comedy to a deeper, more engaging slice-of-life comedy.

Anyway, sorry for the rant, long story short I really enjoyed this volume. Definitely still engaged in this series and having a blast reading it.

I love how detailed the art is and the story line is so relatable.


New update sept 2021: I decided to drop this series its just every vol is repetive and its kind of boring now so mad :( I really wanted at least a few manga series to finish but I just can't. Love komi though can't wait for the anime.
