This was my first P D James - not because I have been avoiding her but simple neglect.
I thought this was terrific: plausible characters and very hard to put down indeed. As they say, "Why do it", not "Whodunnit".
Her writing is very high grade: I'll read more of these.

P.D. James is always so good. The mysteries are fairly commonplace, but the characterization and the writing and usually the solution is just perfectly elegant and so beautiful. Just read this and everything she's ever written.
