When Duckling gets a cookie by asking politely, Pigeon is outraged because he asks for things all of the time and doesn't get anything.

The Pigeon might be a star, but Duckling has a personality of his own.

Love Mo Willems and the pigeon stories. Clever ending with the duckling.

I adore Mo Willems! We donated a couple of books to a elementary school library, but before doing so--of course, I had to make sure the two books in the pigeon series by Willems were up to par (secretly I just wanted to read them) and this one was definitely as cute as the others.

This book made me want cookies.

So fun to read out loud to my students!

This book is cute. When the pigeon is going through some of the things he has asked for and not received it made me feel like I need to check out the other pigeon books. I also like the words that narrate the duckling's movements ... flappy flap flap.

This book sounds so much like sibling bickering and accusations of favoritism made to parents. "Why does she get everything she asks for when I do not?" I love the realism of the tone mixed with the absurdity of what Pigeon recounts having asked for. Mo Willems is one of my favorite picture book authors right now.

I love the simple but so extraordinarily expressive line drawings. Kian finds them hilarious.

Actually both kids will each take a part and perform them as we drive here and there. It never ceases to amuse them.

As always, Mo Willems nails the funny bone with this sly, charming book about a Duckling who asks politely for something within reason and a Pigeon who is upset because he "never" gets what he asks for. You'll be asking for a cookie too - but hold the nuts!
