I'm sick of all the Helen's drama. The case is forgotten so we can focused in Helen's personal demons. One more book (because this one finished with a cliffhanger) and then I'm done.

When the book started I expected to be slightly disappointed. It was slightly weird and highly personal for Helen and had her all across the map. But as the book went on it got better and I totally did not see the ending coming at all. That's what earned it the rating it got.

An interesting, quick thriller. It didn't end how I expected it to (it was a little bit over-the-top, though). I had issues with the way the transgender community was represented in this book - it really seems like Arlidge doesn't think very highly of them, and there was a lack of respect for the only transgender character seen in this series. It was ridiculous. I hope that maybe this can be rectified. Outside of that, I'm interested to see where to story goes.

SYNOPSIS

Helen Grace is back on the case... and this time she knows the victim.

MY OPINION

I've been told by a reviewer that Helen Grace is everything Kim Stone (from Angela Marons' series) tries to be. I do have to agree that there a lot of parallels between Helen and Kim, but I need to keep reading to get a better grasp on Helen's backstory. I think diving in at book #5 was a mistake on my behalf
