This is Bill Morris' debut novel. I sincerely enjoyed reading Inside the Fire. It isn't a long book, but in it's brevity it has depth. It follows a hot shot crew as they fight one of the most intense wild fires in firefighting history (based on an actual fire in SW WA). The protagonist is so well done, because he is so stubborn and at times annoying but you still find yourself caring about him and reading on in rapture. Each character is dynamic which is refreshing. The story is unbelievable only because the horror comes from a place of reality. After reading it, I found myself thinking back to a line of dialogue, or the philosophy of a character. It is truly a good read!
