I have not read the original version, but I love the graphic novel adaptation. The illustrations perfectly capture the tone of the narrative. Orwell’s Eurasia has striking similarities to our present day. There’s so much to take away from this book, so I’d like to revisit it.

La obra original es muy densa, y adaptar un texto así al formato cómic es todo un reto. Lo interesante del cómic es su capacidad para sintetizar, utilizando pocas palabras y apoyándose en la imagen para narrar. Sin embargo, en esta ocasión, no se ha aprovechado esa ventaja.
El cómic mantiene una gran carga de texto expositivo, lo que dificulta seguir el hilo de la narración visual. Aunque el dibujo es bonito, la lectura se vuelve incluso más densa que la obra literaria original.
Personalmente, me quedo con la versión en prosa. El formato cómic no ha logrado aligerar ni aportar claridad a una historia que ya de por sí requiere concentración y paciencia.

I honestly have no idea what to rate this graphic novel, because on the one hand after reading it I can see why the novel version of it is a classic, but also wow this story was so sad and did not even have a conclusion that felt meaningful! Well, I guess now I know what all the buzz is about surrounding the story of 1984?
Pflichtlektüre! Ein fantastisches Buch, welches von vergangenen, der aktuellen und zukünftigen Generationen gelesen werden sollte, da es stets den jeweils aktuellen Zeitgeist trifft. Es ist fabelhaft geschrieben, die Story spannend und die geschilderte Dystopie erschreckend. Noch erstaunlicher ist jedoch festzustellen, mit welcher Genauigkeit George Orwell das 21. Jahrhundert vorhergesagt hat.
Ein Buch zum Nachdenken, Aufwachen und Auffordern, sich selbst seine Meinung zu bilden und nicht blind dem großen Strom hinterher zu schwimmen. Zwischenzeitlich (ca. 40 Seiten) leider etwas trocken. Knapp an der vollen Punktzahl vorbei.
