I read this book for class- and if it had not been for that I would have dropped it. 

I feel bad because I wanted to like this book- and at first I did! The Prelude and Foundation sections were great, and I thought he made really good points and hearing about his struggle was relatable. He is bringing attention to a subject not many think about and I was really invested it! 

I liked that he is an autistic man telling others his experience, and I admire him for it.

However, the Place section lost me. It rambled, and I grew bored. I cannot even remember anything because I was so tuned out and just had to force myself through it. 

It tainted the rest of the book for me. I understand what he was going for: he wanted to show Snippets of his life so we could better understand his perspective- because just stating facts wouldn’t get our attention and our empathy. He wanted us to get invested, but he lost me.

I’m glad others have gotten much out of this book, because I do think it’s a necessary narrative. I just think it could have been formatted better and certain sections shortened. 

Fantastic read! Important for anyone who wants to learn more about the experiences of autistic people.
