The sixth book is the Seven Sisters series is all about Electra as she finds out about where she came from. In the present, Electra is a world famous model that is using drugs as a crutch. When she reaches rock bottom she is convinced to check into rehab by a woman claiming to be her long lost grandmother. In the past, we follow Cecily as she travels from the Upper East side of New York to the wilds of Kenya. On the way she suffers one heartbreak after another but once she is settled in Kenya she finds a love like no other.

I loved listening to Cecily's story and learning more about the past in Kenya. It was interesting to learn about the native tribes of Kenya and how they were treat at the time. Cecily's character was so kind but also very naive. I got quite frustrated at times because I understood her wants and needs, especially with regards to Stella, but it was such a different time then that it was so much harder for them both.

I found Electra's story harder to get into. She was really self involved and there wasn't any depth to her character. However, once her battle with addiction was well written and I was rooting for her to get better. As with the past few of these novels, I felt like her romance with Miles was forced to give a "happy ending". I think it would have been so much more inspiring if Electra had learned to love herself alone instead of needing a man by her side.

The snippet at the end of the book has got me looking forward to The Missing Sister! I can't wait to see how the series ends!

I’ve only read one other book from this series, besides this one, and I need to read them all. This is definitely a chunk of a read and the longest book I’ve read this year, but it’s worth it. The storytelling and characterization pays off, and reading it is an experience I won’t forget.

Thank you to the publisher for the gifted copy.

«ma allora perché penso sempre che tutti mi detestino?» «perché detesti te stessa? vedi, il fatto è che se anche ti sei sempre considerata un mostro... ecco, quel mostro l’hai tenuto dentro, senza scaricarlo addosso agli altri.»

I was really worried that this was going to be over the top cheesy. I like cheese, but when it’s too much, like most romance novels, I can’t stomach it. This was just the right amount of cheese. It touches on addiction, women’s rights, systemic racism, civil rights, and the importance of family; blood or otherwise. This story follows Electra and Cecily, two women who are connected by one twist of fate, and how they manage to overcome their struggles. It’s predictable, but honestly predictable isn’t the worst thing in the world. It was a feel good read and I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
