the first section is readable enough, but the diary section, what's it all for?! a promise to explain how cocaine ran his life for fifteen years, but delivery never comes and instead page after page of name-dropping and dry "this is how many words I wrote today" diary entries fiddle on for ages. I barely skimmed, choosing instead to be released from boredom.

It was OK. Maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I knew more than three names of the famous people he was mentioning and then would have gotten the jokes. Entertaining at some points repetitive at others... Not really my style, but it helped me passed the time.

Brilliant! I don't know why people are giving Fry such a hard time over this book! Ok there could be less diary time, frankly it's the only reason I gave a 4 out of 5 but overall what a normal human being!!! I have nothing but TIME for Stephen Fry! Brilliant, just brilliant! (I pick my nose too)

Was Fry's usual entertaining read, but I had a bit of trouble connecting on such a personal level as the previous two. I suppose the drug use thing was the problem, cos I’ve never done drugs… A large chunk of the book was his diary from 1993. It was entertaining in its own right, but it used up a huge chunk of the book, where I would have liked some new stuff. Seemed a bit of a short cut, but Stephen Fry does so many things it’s excusable I suppose. Did like the insight into how the process of writing The Hippopotamus went though.

Oh dear, where do I start. I really enjoyed the first two volumes, so started with eager anticipation for this volume. Started off well then just became like reading an over privileged Adrian Mole. If they are his actual diaries from the time, then this is just a lazy form of book writing. Disappointing after the previous volumes.

Hmmmmm...More like 3.5. I so wanted to enjoy this and I did enjoy a lot of it but the reading of the diary, which is written in minuscule detail, was just a bit monotonous for me. I got what he was trying to show but it just started to drag. The book started so well, some wonderfully, brutally honest moments, but that last 20-30% let it down. Such a shame as I love Stephen Fry and listening to him narrate is always a pleasure. Look, that massive diary section just made it so hard to get into...I mean, it took me a damn month to finish this!!! A MONTH! Sorry Stephen. Still love you but this was not for me.

It was a very good listen did start reading the book originally but found it hard to get Stephens voice out of my head so listened to it instead in his voice and loved it.
