This book was comprised of 6 novellas; Queen Song which is a prequel to the series from the perspective of Cal's mother; Steel Scars is another prequel from the perspective if Farley leading up to the events that take place in the 1st book (Red Queen); World Behind is in the perspective of 2 new characters and takes place during the events of the 4th book (War Storm); Iron Heart is in the perspective of Evangeline and takes place after the events of War Storm; Fire Light is in the perspective of Cal & Mare and takes place after the events of War Storm; Fare Well is in the perspective of Maven and takes place during the events of War Storm.

All in all I was not impressed. I was kind of excited to read about other events in different POVs, but everything was just meh.

I guess I liked this more than War Storm. Honestly if a bunch of other parts of War Storm and King's Cage had been edited out, a lot of the details from Broken Throne could have been included in War Storm. Overall, maybe Aveyard needed to write all of this first and then go back and edit. I guess that's not necessarily how writing a series works though.

The Evanligne story was fine, better than Cal and Mare's. I have been quite vocal about my disdain for her but that's because the author made her do stupid things for the sake of the plot. Her feelings for Maven were not really romantic as they are trying to imply here. She clearly felt more for Cal always. I don't think why he is so dedicated to her. I like Maven and Cal better than I like Mare though. I do understand why they separated and why she saves Maven in him. They are brothers and they will always have similar traits that would remind someone of the other. I really liked how Cal buried Maven with his mother and gave him a proper burial because he loved his brother regardless of what his brother had done. That part really got me. The Fire Light story was honestly so boring because they were going over strategy and since even if this universe continues I do not want to read it. I know their story has not ended but the author might make other stories like she did with Ash and Ly- chick that I do not remember and honestly I wasn't feeling them. I'm not talking romantically but as characters. The timelines and all that are interesting but I never saw any maps because I was listening to the audiobook which I heard at 3 times speed because I just wanted this story over with. They are together and everyone is going to continue this war and all that. They did tell it does end sooner rather than later. I'm just not into the character as I was.

honestly this just feels like a cash grab. so much of this shit written/the archives were useless and it feels like the publishers/author were trying to bleed this series as dry as possible.

The last half could have been added onto War Storm and the first half could’ve not existed. But a lovely roundup of Red Queen! A better ending than War Storm
