@ P.S. I love that book!
EXPECTATIONS: I first heard of this book on booktube back in the days when I followed a lot of popular booktubers that did not necessary fit my taste in books. Later I went back to this book and decided that actually I might enjoy it after all, I do love me some paranormal.
THE WORLD: Let me just say that the world kinda reminded me of the one in Chilcagoland Vampires. Basically we have this ordinary outside and then if you dig deeper you find these werecats and their weird families and laws and what not. Yes, this book is about shapshifting werecats. Also there are only eleven females left so pretty much if you want to keep the werecats a thing in the future you better keep these females happy and alive.
CHARACTERS: Our main character is called Faythe and she is this rebel girl who does not want to stay in the family and instead goes off to college and just out of the pride as it is the only thing that she considers to be freedom. However, as females start to get killed she must come back for safety. Basically, Faythe is this typical bad ass female who rebels against everybody and who is supposed to be this strong female lead. Well not really. For me she just felt reckless and ready to do anything that makes her father angry. I mean don't get me wrong, I don't find her annoying or had any feelings against her characters...I just don't think she is a strong exemplary female that author wants her to be. Then there is Marc. Now where Faythe was born into a pride sorta like a clan, Marc was a stray aka outsider. Normally outsiders are looked down on and even hunted but Faythe's father actually took Marc in when he was younger and raised him as equal. Marc is also obsessively in love with Faythe and want to marry her. Now....let me just say that I freaking love Marc. I know he is this very macho werecat and all but damn, there is just something about him that is very very sexy. I would also totally throw my clothes off whenever he enters the room.
ROMANCE: I actually really liked it because it is not traditional. Yes Marc is crazy about Faythe and she kinda considers him as teenager years fun. But the way it all sorts out, I freaking loved him. Just super hot sexy romance!
GOOD: I kinda liked everything about this book. Even the things that I would not normally enjoy I really liked in this case. I think it is because of the author, the way Rachel Vincent puts it all together...amazing.
BAD: As a feminist I cannot just let the macho thing slide. I did enjoyed it but I think I did it by also knowing that in real life I would not like it. So even tho it did work really well in this book and I definitely would not take it away because damn Marc hooooot, just be warned that it exists and it is strong.
OVERALL: I would give this book five starts simply as of how much I enjoyed it. But again this 5 stars would not be equal to Charlaine Harris or Victoria Schwab type of 5 stars...so I will give it 4 stars instead. But still, really loved it and highly recommend if you love sexy and hot urban fantasy.

Love shifter books and it was a nice change to have a girl who can kick ass. She's a little stupid at times and stubborn as hell but sure knows how to look out for herself.

I really loved this book, it was not what i expected it to be. It was allot darker than i expected and actually made me really upset at times with the awful things that happened to the tabbies and Fayth.
Solid four star read and i am exited to see where it goes!!

En estos momentos una servidora desea darse cabezazos contra la pared, gracias. ¿El motivo? Que Stray haya estado en mi estantería durante un par de años y lo peor de todo, que esta mañana casi escojo otro libro en vez de este porque "Es muy tocho". PONG, PONG, PONG. *se da los cabezazos*
Vamos a ver.... SI NO HABÉIS LEÍDO STRAY, sinceramente, NO SE A QUE ESPERÁIS

When I really love a book or am seriously pulled into it then it takes me a maximum of two days to read it (with school and other stuff) but if I am not loving it that much then it takes me a bit longer. It took me a bit longer to read Stray, now I like the book; it was very good it just didn’t hold my interest as much as other books did. The beginning began with a good action filled fight scene but then the pace slows down, we learn about our protagonist, a bit about her background, her life etc and we find out that she likes to complain. Faythe Sander’s is a young college student in her mid twenties with plenty of rebellion under her belt. She wants to be treated like an independent woman and not a uterus with legs and we as the reader hear about it a lot along with a couple other things she isn’t too happy about. Thankfully the story isn’t only about that.
The fight scene was there for a reason, tabbies (female shifters) are being taken and it’s the mystery behind the taking that keeps the pace moving. With each new reveal of information or new crime the story moves along more quickly until I am finally gripped and stay with the story until the end.
Stray is a well written book filled with drama and dotted with action. The protagonist was young and therefore annoyingly immature but in the later half of the book I grew to admire her for what a strong woman she was and for finally doing some growing.

It took me a while to pick up this book because I have heard not so good things about it in reviews. I am also a teacher, but I work part time in a bookstore and when I went to look up this book I found it in the romance section. I am usually a fantasy fiction, paranormal person, but not full out cheesy romance novels so I was a little hesitant but, I read Rachel Vincent's young adult series Soul Screamers and really enjoyed it so I thought if I liked that I would like her Shifters series a shot. I have to say after reading it I don't really know why it is in the romance section of the bookstore. There is some romance in there, but no more than any other fantasy fiction so I am not sure why it would not be in that section of the store.
Anyways, the book was great!! I want to actually give it 4 1/2 stars but that is not an option. The only sections of the book that were slow to me where some of the sections describing things, although I do understand why they have to be in there, I am just not a very patient person. I do like this take and shifters because they do have special abilities but they are not immortal which somehow makes them feel more real.
I also liked how hard-headed Faythe was, being a stubborn person myself I did like to see her struggle to let people in and help her. That may sound weird, but I like that she is not a "girly-girl" and is comfortable being on of the guys (and is actually fighting for that). The book is fast paced and kept me wanting to read on to see what would happen.
The only warning I would give would be that Rachel Vincent is not afraid to get graphic, I mean very graphic, with some action scenes and some other uncomfortable stuff towards the end that I am not going to say and ruin it, so if you have a weak stomach or don't like that kind of thing, this series might not be for you. Personally, I just downloaded Rogue to my Kindle so I will be reading to see what Faythe is up to next :)

Suka dgn world buildingnya, aku hanya kurang suka dgn tokoh utamanya, Faythe. Untunglah ceritanya bagus & tokoh2 yg lain juga menyenangkan. Kalau dulu2 kita sdh pernah menemui genre paranormal romance menceritakan mengenai vampir & werewolf, disini menceritakan mengenai werecat (pengubah bentuk kucing).

This review is for the full series
I read this series when I was younger and decided to give it another go now that my brain is a little (a lot) more developed
I enjoyed it a lot less
The FMC is so annoying, flip-flopping back and forth between decisions
The MMC is even more annoying
I liked one character - Jace
I didn't like the controlling behaviour from any of the characters but I understand it's use, since they're animals and all
Every single character was a narcissistic a-hole
It was an interesting take on the werecreatures though, I don't remember ever reading about shifters that weren't wolves other than this series which is why I wanted to give it another go
I unfortunately didn't read the last two books
