This was an interesting attempt to unite the various piece of the Robin Sloan universe. There were sections that reminded me of what I like so much about his writing, but I overall it didn't work quite as well for me as well as his longer works. It felt like too much for the space. I'm still glad that I read it, but I'd hoped for more.

This novella feels more supplemental than a freestanding work. Sloan is still my favorite author and my opinion of it may develop when I read it. It feels lacking the typical character depth and joy of his works, but that's the nature of the narrator. I do appreciate the theme and richness it adds to this world
