This was no Mr. Penumbra, but perhaps that's because it was just a wee novella, and we didn't get quite such a thorough investment in the characters. Still, it was quirky and interesting as one might expect, and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

this was a fun little novella that I enjoyed reading, as I enjoy all of Robin Sloan’s writing—but maybe it’s because it’s been so long since I’ve read Sourdough or Mr. Penumbra that I struggled to figure out where the connections to these stories were. once I stopped searching for how this story fit into those books and just enjoying the plot, which is a fun romp as Sloan’s writing always is, I liked reading it a lot more!

Loved the concept of having a book tying books together. I need to go back and read them to catch more of the allusions from this book.

Very cute semi-prequel from the world of Sourdough. I'm not sure I found it as charming or captivating as both Penumbra and Sourdough were, but enjoyable nonetheless.
