I cannot overstate how much fatphobia is in this book. I caution all readers.
Aside from that this was a funny read set during the Interbellum, just before WWII, where the main character reflects on past present and future.
I read the physical and audio version of this book simultaneously, which helped me stay focused during the slower parts of the story.

I never thought it would be a problem but all the fatphobic was making me really uncomfortable. I'm not in the right headspace for the constant attention put on his weight. I also had other expectations for the book.
I will probably try it again one day but right now, I would rather not force myself through this.
