I enjoyed this. It was a little boring at first and they were Some plot twists that I didn’t see it coming. I liked the Auburn as a main character Owen was OK at first he was really weird to me but he got better and the secret wasn’t that big of a deal and I kind of saw it coming. There’s some more serious contact in this so trigger warning for sexual assault, emotional abuse, physical abuse, addiction, and some other things. I really like the artwork included in this. That was a good touch and I do wish we got a little more confessions because those are really interesting.

The storyline packed in twists and turns alongside making me feel every emotion. I felt tense through quite a large portion of the book and at times, I directed that mistrust and suspense at the wrong characters. I think that’s one reason I loved this book as you didn’t know who to trust especially the first half of the book. The art included in Confess was breathtaking and so beautiful and powerful. I think it is also worth mentioning how incredible and moving it is that all the confessions mentioned in this book were submitted by real people. With the art, confessions and plot combined, this is a clever, moving book.

Owen really won my heart and that last chapter?! My heart shattered all because it was so heartbreaking but so beautiful and touching all at the same time! I don’t think I connected completely with Auburn but I enjoyed her journey of becoming this strong, young woman and standing up for herself.

This was a fast paced book (which I love) but at times, it’s felt too fast paced, so I didn’t get the full experience of some scenes. I think this may be why I didn’t connect with Auburn as much as I wanted to (as well as one of her actions in particular despite my feelings about Trey).

There was a lot about this book that was… really bad. The writing was weak. The characters were bland. The depiction of policing was super inaccurate? Idk. Lots going on. Not much of it was great. I think my 2.5 stars is generous.

WELCOME TO THE MOST UNDERRATED COHO BOOK!

I just … am endlessly crying over auburn and owen 😭

after auburn’s first love passes away at the age of 16, she meets owen in a chance of fate situation that leaves her breathless … and left me SOBBING!

everything about their relationship was so perfect but at the wrong time, and it had me screaming into the pages of this novel. as usual, coho has gorgeous writing that intertwines the love, despair, tension, and heartbreak so effortlessly!!

coho always handles the most sensitive topics so graciously, and CONFESS was no different. auburn’s relationships with her “family” were so devastating to watch, and it really touched on personal situations of my own to connect and reflect upon. and I think that’s why coho books touch the lives of so many - because we can sympathize and reflect upon our own by recognizing parts of ourselves in her novels 🤍

and can we talk about how coho used ACTUAL anonymous posts for her confessions in the book? 🥹🫶🏼 (we all should have an outlet like owen’s studio)

this book has a TON of trigger warnings, which I will post at the bottom of this review for anyone interested, so please make sure to verify before reading!

this is probably my new favorite book in coho’s collection, so do NOT sleep on this one! 🤌🏼
