This book didn't grasp my attention and I felt like the storyline was lacking. It needed to be more in-depth for me to stay interested in what was happening. The character's dialogue was good and the previous characters in the other books made a slight appearance but the book overall had a mediocre storyline and didn't really keep me entertained.

I hated this book. Like really bad. After reading The Duff, I thought this book would be much better. I was wrong. While The Duff is entertaining, this book was not. I felt like the three main characters were boring and dull. Sonny was irritating and selfish, Ryder was a jackass and not all that and Amy was just there.
I wasn't feeling the romance between Sonny and Ryder. I mean Sonny was really desperate for Ryder's attention and that made her even more unlikable for me. I found myself bored with the book and I kept wishing that I will be done with this book quick. I did felt bad for Sonny and her home life but that didn't made it easy for me to like her. I really wished this book was in Amy's POV and with a whole new storyline. And have a different best friend and different love interest. Also the ending was terrible. Like what the hell?
In Conclusion, I found this book really terrible and boring. I didn't like The Duff but that book was way better and more entertaining. So I advise you to read that then this.

It was a cute and simple book to read but i was disappointed by the end!! It's just Ughh i don't know how to explain it haha.
But if you want a ennemies to lover young adults (more likely for teenagers though) book here you go! the story is sweet but kinda unreal sometimes you know haha.

I didn’t realise this was book four in the Hamilton High series but it was fine as a standalone. It’s the perfect young adult and chick-lit story. It was an easy read for me. But I really enjoyed it. Something different. Well written and short chapters.
The story focuses on two bestfriends Sonny and Amy. Amy is quiet and shy the gorgeous one according to Sonny. Sonny is a perfect liar and manipulater. It’s a tough one to review as theyre best friends and Amy would do anything for Sonny but what if Sonny goes too far?
Sonny lies about everything she’s so good at it she doesn’t know how to tell the truth. But she soon develops a crush on someone who prefers Amy. Personally I think Amy deserved a better friend than Sonny but they stuck together. Personally Sonny annoyed me in some parts, surprised me in others and at times she was very selfish.
With a happish ending and lies told by Sonny being uncovered. I enjoyed it. Getting lost into that teenage drama, high school world for a change.
A well deserved four stars from me. Highly recommend. I have just started the first book in this series The Duff.

And the feels return for this book and its characters. Sonny and Ryder though. And then Wesley and Bianca return for a couple of scenes, but hey, that's better than nothing.

Say Anything & Konstantine... That is all.
No but seriously Kody had me feeling all the feels! It was a hysterical emotional roller coaster and I loved all the characters. I also loved all the 90s references!

Waaaaa Keplinger does it again. This got 4 stars because of the ending but damn the morally gray characters I relate to in her books are just so damn good.

I wasn't even expecting to recieve the first book of this, much less the second, but I was very happy when I got the approval email. I saw a lot of people talking about how good the second book is, so I couldn't wait to read it. Imagine my disappointment when I did, and it wasn't about Amy, but her liar of a best friend, Sonny. Yeah, another example of me not reading summaries of books.
First of all, I hate liars. I've came across a lot of them in my life and all of them left their unpleasant mark. I try to avoid them as much as possible. So when I figured out that Sonny is the biggest liar of them all, I almost groaned out loud.
Our story, just like The DUFF, plays in the Hamilton High School. Sonny is a liar. Her whole life is a lie. She lies to everyone about everything around herself. She does this to hide her family problems, to get herself out of every tricky situations, to get herself a place to live. So when the new guy, Ryder tries to ask out her best friend, Amy, in email, of course she has to answer and lie to him to. Why would he be any different? But the things start to spiral out of Sonny's control, so she keeps trying to save herself with another web of lies.
Seriously, both Sonny and Ryder are irritable characters. Sonny with her constant lying and Ryder with his "I'm better than everyone else" personality just aren't enjoyable and relatable characters. Sonny thinks she is a good person, a best friend and whatnot, while she just drags Amy into her lies, forcing her to do as she says. Ryder has some swoony moments, but most of the time, he's a judgemental, know-it-all prick, who changes his opinion on people more often than people change their underwear.
The romance was non-existent. At least for me, crushing on a boy who's crushing on your best friend, then suddenly on you isn't romance. It's just lust and confusion. Also Sonny was lying to Ryder too about their relationship and everything, so how can you have anything, when it's built on lies? I tell you how: YOU CAN'T.
I really really loved Amy. Sure, she let people push her around but she was generally really nice and I just wanted more of her. The book would've been much better if it were her story and she wouldn't be used in a bad game of catfish. She and Bianca and Wesley were all that made this book bearable for me and they get my 3 stars. But even then, Bianca and Wesley seemed so different from the first book. I know, looking at them through someone else's eyes and all, but seriously. They were pictured as a syrupy couple.
Let's not even talk about the ending. IT. WAS. HORRIBLE. I expected a lot more, since this is a companion to The DUFF and whatnot. Something like the ending of that. But no, did I really went through Sonny's lying for a whole book for that ending? Yes, I did, and I regret. The whole book was absolutely boring to me and if it weren't for the siblings and Bianca, I wouldn't have finished this book.
*I recieved a digital copy of this book from Hodder Books via Netgalley in an exchange of an honest review. This in no way influenced my thoughts on the book.*
