An easy read, and very predictable. Still, it had me in tears in the final 100 pages.

I claim to be a huge Nicholas Sparks fan, and normally, I am. This book, however, just didn’t do it for me. It was a chore to finish and so unbelievably predictable.

This book is terrible. I got 1/3 of the way through and hated every second of it. I'm giving up on this, it's constant bickering between an unlikeable wife and an unlikeable husband. It's obviously moving towards their divorce. If I want to hear about couples fighting I'll just tune into the real world, absolutely not what I want to spend my time reading. Worst book I've tried to read in a very long time.

nicholas sparks must've been.........so sad after his divorce skjdfjs he still thanked catherine (i missed it inially bc he always called her cathy in other acknowledgements i think) but still

did he just decide after like twenty books maybe i SHOULD be a little inclusive? the last book had a woman of color as half of the main couple and this one has a side gay couple? never thought i’d see anyone who wasn’t both straight and white in his books tbh (but he did pull a bury your gays so. not great)

what is with the kite flying in nicholas sparks book do people really fly kites ever

why does russell have to be weird about his daughter being friends with a boy she’s FIVE i bet sparks was like that

vivian was....the worst like i would argue she was emotionally abusive like?? she was mad about russ and london becoming close like you are her PARENTS you should be happy that he's more apart of his life than he was before. and every time he tried to have a discussion about ANYTHING she'd be like "why are you doing this to me? you turn everything into an argument blah blah blah" like........they were important discussions and he was p much always rightfully concerned. and the shopping trips!!! i love shopping too but he told her she needed to cut back and she kept buying things she did not need at department stores and being like "oh well i got things on sale" like sure you can get good deals but....you could be a lot thriftier when you know you have money problems. i will admit that it sucks that russ made the decision to start his own business and fucked with their financial situation but he knew he was gonna be fired anyway like that's the only thing he really did wrong and she was mad at him all the time for no reason skjdfjs usually reviewers complain about the women in nicholas sparks books being annoying (and usually i figure it's misogynistic bc they don't have shit to say about the men and most of the time i think the characters are pretty much fine) but yeah holy shit i hated her

i don't buy emily being willing to uproot her own life (and her kid's) just bc russ was moving to atlanta. and idt it's fair after everything vivian did that he had to be the one to move just because she made the decision to leave him and move hours away from her child like. it just entirely sucks especially when russ lost marge (even if apparently she wanted him to move to atlanta) that he had to leave his family behind when they're grieving this huge loss

anyway yeah i just felt so bad for russ bc his wife was basically gaslighting him the ENTIRE time like i really don't think it was his fault she was so unhappy and idt being with some billionaire is gonna make her happy bc she probably just Can't be happy lmao i understanding falling out of love and marriage is hard but i think she was just so unfair about literally everything whether russ had actually done anything wrong or not

It is hard to believe anyone is this bad at marriage. Plus the amount of sappiness you’d expect.

I personally did not like this book at all. I felt that both main characters were just not likable. It was very hard to get into the story and want to finish the book.
emotional sad medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

Main character is a “nice guy who always finishes last” type with a victim complex. Writing also breaks the fourth wall. Couldn’t get past intro chapter.

half of the book was literally the little summary hook blurb thing on the front also most of it was j dialogue

I hate to say this but this book was so boring and un-Nicholas Sparks. It’s so dull and not one bit romantic. I couldn’t even finish it. Such a disappointment
