Full of interesting facts about what we know and what we can't know. I think the heart of the book comes very near the end, when the author talks about a proposed revision of the justice system. I don't know that I agree with him, but it does sound logical. For the most part, I found it fascinating.

Fascinating, with a multitude of history woven in, and examples that really make you think. I enjoyed approx the first half better than the later chapters where he goes pretty in-depth making a case for how he thinks our justice system should treat criminals in regards to mental status. As the audiobook narrator, Eagleman himself does a wonderful job. I will be picking up his more recent books, but I'm glad I started with this one. Highly recommended.

Interesting information. Very difficult to get through.
This book may have benefited from more organization and some editing, so one section flowed logically into the next. Instead, I was reading about brain function, and suddenly it turns into a two chapter discussion of the criminal justice system. I had no idea the book was going to take that kind of turn.
My major take-away is that I have less control over myself than I thought... and most of my systems work better on auto pilot. Hm.

Definitely makes you think a little harder about where "you" exist in your biology.

A good introdutory text on cognitive neurosciences. Easy to read without being too superficial. Recommend it.
