The book, despite the scary vibe of its title, is surprisingly presented in a lighthearted way. Adachi sebagai narator terasa seperti remaja sekolahan yang familier di sekitar kita. Agak cengengesan. Kayaknya anaknya asik. Tapi kemudian pembaca disajikan kondisi kelas Adachi, yang tidak ideal. Salah satu teman sekelasnya, Yano, dirundung oleh anak-anak sekelas dengan berbagai justifikasi dan tampaknya tidak ada yang sanggup, atau mau, menghentikan praktik perundungan ini.

This is a rather straightforward coming-of-age story, I think. Spotlight benar-benar ada di Adachi dan cara berpikirnya. When everyone around you does something, do you dare to do things differently at the cost of being treated differently? Also, on bullying: kalau orangnya sendiri pernah dipandang 'cari gara-gara' kemudian dirundung beramai-ramai, apakah dia adalah korban? Atau ini namanya hukuman sosial?

Buku ini menyajikan kisah dan masalah dalam format "titik-titik" yang harus dihubungkan sendiri oleh pembaca untuk memperoleh gambaran yang lebih utuh dan luas. And it's a slowburn book. Ada repetisi aktivitas yang dijelaskan secara cukup detil. If you're looking for an immediate, exciting action scenes, you won't find it here. But if you're a patient reader, I think you'll find something. And you'll be thinking about that thing for quite some time.
