I enjoyed this book far more than I expected. For being published in 1969, Beazley is remarkably aware of the constructed nature of parks and the subsequent difficulties and ironies that this fact creates. Beazley also interweaves a marked sense of intelligent wit, which makes the seemingly dull subject fairly entertaining. Although much of the info is outdated and UK specific, anyone interested in park studies/management or park history will find some useful information in this volume.
